[영문법 포인트 002] 간접의문문의 어순

 

 

 

cf. (직접)의문문: (의) + V + S?

예) Are you OK?

(How) did you pass the test?

How old is she? (참고로 여기에서 How는 old를 꾸며준다.)

 

"how"

홀로 쓰일 때: 어떻게

덩어리로 쓰일 때: 얼마나 + 형/부 ('얼마나'가 형/부를 꾸며준다.)

 

 

1. 간접의문문 어순

 

간접의문문: ~(의) + S + V

 

I don't know how old you are.

                      의     주   동

 

cf. 사실은 접주동, 의주동(=간접의문문) 모두 같은 이야기.

 

 

2. 생각동사

 

생각동사 종류

Do you think? + What does he like?

-> What do you think he likes? 생각동사일 때는 의문사가 앞으로 나온다. 그리고 주동 어순. 마지막 수일치.

 

 

Do you guess? + How old is she?

-> How old do you guess she is? (how old는 덩어리다.)

 

 

3. 의문사가 주어일 때

 

주어-동사 관계인지, 동사-목적어 관계인지 판단

1. What do you know he likes? ( x ) -> Do you know what he likes? 생각동사가 아니므로 의문사 안 나감.
2. Do you know who the game won? ( x ) -> Do you know who won the game? 의문사가 주어임을 알아야 함. 게임이 이긴 것이 아니라 의문사가(=누가) 게임을(목적어) 이김. 따라서 목적어는 동사 뒤로.
3. Who do you guess the game will win? ( x ) -> Who do you guess will win the game? 생각동사일 때 의문사 잘 나갔고, Who가 의문사이자 주어이다. 따라서 Who do you guess 이후에 나머지 동사가 나와야 함. the game은 목적어임.
4. What do you imagine will take place? ( o ) 생각동사라서 의문사가 잘 나갔고, What이 의문사이자 주어이므로 나머지 동사순서 그대로 오면 되니 어순 맞네.
5. Who do you think the test passed? ( x ) -> Who do you think passed the test? 생각동사라 의문사 앞으로 나갔고, Who가 의문사이자 주어라 나머지는 동사가 와야지. the test는 목적어.
6. I don't know who the test will pass. ( x ) -> I don't know who will pass the test. who가 의문사이자 주어이므로 다음에 동사가 오면 됨. the test는 목적어 
7. I know how it is difficult to finish it in a day. ( x ) -> I know how difficult it is to finish it in a day. how 덩어리 개념.
8. We can know what will the weather be like tomorrow. ( x ) -> We can know what the weather will be like tomorrow. 원래 문장은 the weather will be like what tomorrow이겠지. 끝에 tomorrow는 부사니까 괄호 치고 생각지 말고. 여기에서 what이 의문사로 앞으로 나가면서 what will the weather be like ~? 이게 간접의문문으로 들어가면서 what the weather will be like ~ 의주동 순서가 되는 것.
