005강  1장 3형식, 5형식 구문

 

 

 

3형식: 주어 + 동사 + 목적어

 

 

항상 3형식 동사(4형식 불가)

+ 목적어 + (to 사람)

+ (to 사람) + 목적어(목적어가 길 때 뒤로 보냄. 마치 긴 주어일 때 가주어 쓰고 긴 주어는 뒤로 보내는 것처럼)

5형식: 주어 + 동사 + 목적어 + 목적격 보어

주어는 동사의 주체, 목적어는 목적격 보어의 주체

목적격 보어 자리에는 명사 보어, 형용사 보어, 준동사 보어(Ving/pp, to V)가 올 수 있다.

 

His fatness renders him unable to touch his toes.

그의 비만은 그가 그의 발가락을 잡을 수 없게 만들었다. to 부정사는 부사적 용법으로 형용사 unable을 수식하고, 전체적으로는 5형식 문장으로서 목적격 보어로 형용사 unable이 왔다.

문장을 보면 쉽지 않음을 알 수 있다.

 

cf) S + V + N + N

He made me a doctor.

He made me a cake.

 

위 두 문장은 (주어 + 동사 + 명사 + 명사) 형태로 나왔는데 형식과 해석이 많이 달라진다.

1번 문장은 5형식. me = a doctor(N 보어) 그는 나를 의사로 만들었다.

2번 문장은 4형식. me ≠ a cake 케이크가 형용사 보어도 아니고 결국 4V. 나를 케이크로 만드는 게 아니잖아 ㅋㅋ me가 간접 목적어, a cake가 직접 목적어. 그는 나에게 케이크를 만들어주었다.

 

I made him happy. he ≠ happy 그럼 a보어 맞네. 5형식. 그가 행복함. 나는 그를 행복한 상태로 만들었다. 보통 해석을 나는 그를 행복하게 만들었다고 해서 happily로 함정을 파는데, 낚이면 안 된다. 보어 자리에는 부사 불가.

I made a cake happily. 3형식. 내가 행복함. 내가 행복하게 케이크를 만들었다.
