004강 1장 2형식 구문

 

 

2형식: 주어 + 동사 + 보어

 

2형식에서 보어는 주격 보어(S·C)라 하고 주체가 주어이다. 참고로 5형식에도 보어가 나오는데 5형식의 보어는 목적격 보어(O·C)라고 한다.

보어는 명사 보어와 형용사 보어가 올 수 있다고 지난 강의에서 배웠다.

따라서 출제 포인트가 보어 자리에 부사가 올 수 없다는 것과 보어 자리에 N보어냐 a보어냐 하는 것이다. 그리고 보어 자리에 부사가 올 수 없다는 것이 중요하다. 우리말 해석상 부사가 오면 그럴 듯하게 보이기 때문이다. 하지만 문법상 2형식 보어 자리에 부사가 오면 틀린 것이다. 그래서 해석은 '~한 상태이다'

 

참고로 1형식 동사가 2형식 동사로도 쓰일 수 있다. 나중에 3형식도 배우겠지만 3형식 동사가 4형식으로 쓰일 수도 있는 것이다. 하나의 동사가 문장에서 여러 형식으로 쓰일 수 있다.

 

 

어려우면 2형식 동사를 be동사라 생각하고 문제를 구조적으로 풀면 쉽다. 어차피 2형식 동사의 모태 동사가 be동사이기 때문이다.

1. The person in charge is (him, he). 우선 그 사람 the person과 선택지의 그가 같으면 명사 보어를 쓴다. 근데 둘 다 명사네. 정확히는 대명사. 그리고 동사 is가 2형식 동사이고, 보어 자리에는 주격 보어가 와야 한다. 따라서 he가 정답. 물론 구어체에서는 him도 쓰는데 어차피 우리도 표준어나 문법 몰라서 대충 쓰거나 관용적으로 스는 표현이 있듯이 영어에서도 똑같다. 하지만 시험 문제로 나온다면 문법에 맞는 것을 골라야 하므로 he가 정답.
2. This food tastes (delicious, deliciously). 2형식 보어 자리에는 부사 불가. 어려우면 tastes 대신에 be동사(여기에서는 is)가 있다고 생각해라.

기본 구조

< S + V + so + 형/부 ~ // that + S + V > 여기서 so는 부사로서 형/부를 꾸며준다. 너무 형/부 해서 그 결과 that절 S가 V하다.

이것이 2형식이면

< S + V2 + so + 형 ~ // that + S + V >

보어 자리니까 부사 불가.
